Increased circulating levels of betatrophin in patients with type 2 diabetes and gestational diabetes and pregnant woman

【摘要】 Objective:The aim of this study was to explore serum betatrophin levels in health pregnant or gestational diabetes women,and patients with type 2 diabetes.We provided a better understanding of the physiological and pathophysiological role of betatrophin in metabolic disorder diseases.Methods:Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and Western Blot were used to measure the serum betatrophin levels in 200 participants.Meanwhile,all the data such as blood glucose,Hb A1c,TG,HDL,LDL,FFA,AST,ALT,BUN,creatinine and ALB were measured by biochemical detection from clinic.All participants were divided into six groups:healthy subjects(n=51),newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus patients(n=45),T2DMpatients(n=50)under improvement of blood glucose control,healthy pregnant women(n=19),BMI-matched GDM(n=23)and age-matched healthy women(n=12).Results:In healthy subjects,fasting serum betatrophin demonstrated a significant positive correlation with age(P<0.001)and creatinine(p=0.016).Serum betatrophin levels were significantly higher both in newly diagnosed(1054.8±432.34 pg/ml)and glucose controlled(4168.5±3533.56 pg/ml)T2DM patients compared with healthy subjects(669.15±318.16 pg/ml)(p<0.001).Serum betatrophin levels in pregnant women and GDM patients were significantly increased compared with health women([1648.0±295.62 and 1311.4±398.5]vs.502.55±77.43 pg/ml,P<0.001).Conclusion:Circulating concentrations of betatrophin were significantly increased in T2DM patients,pregnant women and GDM patients,suggested that betatrophin probably might be involved in a hypermetabolic state.
