Transmission of RF signals along a plasma column

【摘要】 <正>A plasma column was used to transmit radio frequency(RF) signal.The plasma column was produced in a long glass tube filled with low-pressure argon.The transmission, reflection and radiation of RF signals at different frequencies along the plasma column were measured under different plasma conditions and compared with a metal column.The results show that the RF transmission increases with the discharge power and approaches the feature of metal column when the power reaching a critical value.The standing wave ratio(SWR) and impedance of plasma column also become similar to the metal.The dense plasma can act as a conductor to transmit RF signals without significant attenuation within a large range of column length.
