【Abstract】 Cucurbit[5]uril is a new generation of supramolecular host with good rigidity hydrophobic cavity that can accommodate a variety of guest molecules selectively.To date,no studies have been reported on the interaction of CB[5] with Melatonin(MLT).It is found that the fluorescence intensity of the MLT complex decreased gradually with the increasing concentration of CB[5].At the same time,the hypochromicity of the absorption spectra of MLT was observed.This modification of the spectra was considered to be a result of inclusion complex formation between the MLT and CB[5].Association constant and the stoichiometry of the inclusion complex have been studied according to the Stern-Volmer equation.The data indicated a 1:1 inclusion complex forms between CB[5] and MLT.These studies provide a theoretical guide for the expansion of cucurbituril in the field of drug analysis applications.
