多芯光纤与单模光纤耦合效率分析及其在模式选择中的应用

【摘要】 根据耦合模理论和衍射理论,得到多芯光纤中各超模的近场和远场模式分布,以此推导出各超模与单模光纤中传输的基模之间的模式耦合效率。以七芯光纤为例,分析了在单模光纤和多芯光纤端面之间的距离不同的情况下,模式耦合效率与单模光纤纤芯半径之间的关系,结果表明通过选择合适的单模光纤纤芯半径可以使模式耦合效率得到优化。为了提高多芯光纤中共相位模式的选择效率,需要使同相位模式的耦合效率明显高于其它高阶超模,因此进一步选择合适的单模光纤纤芯半径,可以使功率耦合效率差值达到最大;并且当单模光纤和多芯光纤端面间距离最小时,同相位模式可以得到最有效的选择。在此情况下,相比传统的塔尔伯特腔,采用无掺杂单模光纤作为选模器件可以使同相位模式相对于其他超模的耦合效率之差提高一倍以上,从而达到近似单一的同相位模式输出。
【Abstract】 According to coupled-mode theory and diffraction theory,the near-field and far-field distributions of individual supermode propagating in multicore fiber are obtained,consequently the coupling coefficient between supermodes and fundamental mode in single-mode fiber are obtained.For 7-core fiber,the relationship between mode coupling coefficient and the single-mode fiber core radius are analyzed under different distance between the facets of single-mode fiber and multicore fiber.Based on that results,the coupling coefficient could be optimized.In order to improve the in-phase mode selectivity,the mode coupling coefficient of the in-phase mode needs to be higher than that of the other higher-order modes.The power coupling coefficient difference can approach the highest value when single-mode fiber core radius are chosen properly;and the shorter distance between multicore fiber and single-mode fiber,the higher selectivity of in-phase mode.Compared to conventional Talbot cavity,using un-doped single-mode fiber as a mode selection element can improve the coupling efficient difference by more than 100%,which makes pure in-phase output possible.
