【Abstract】 Iron is a trace element which is essential to and accounts for the largest proportion of trace elements in human body.Iron deficiency of various causes will lead to iron-deficient anemia as well as the decrease of work efficiency,learning capability,and cognitive capability.In addition,it is also related to the incidence of some diseases,even death.An accurate,sensitive,convenient,and simple body iron status evaluation method is of vital importance to the prevention and control of iron deficiency.A lot of studies show that serum transferrrin receptor is the most sensitive indicator which reflects the insufficient iron supply by red cell series due to lack of iron storage,though it has not formed the early impairment of iron deficient anemia. The concentration of serum transferring receptor is quantitatively correlated with the iron deficiency of tissue. Objective:To study the consistency,sensitivity,and specificity of filter spotted method and routine method in iron deficiency diagnosis and provide theoretical basis for the popularization of using serum transferring receptor to evaluate body iron status.MethodS:1.Venous blood were obtained from 70 students aged 12-16 on the basis of anemia survey.Filter spotted method and routine method were used to determine the concentration of serum transferring receptor after the serum samples had been centrifuged.2.Thirty-two serum samples were chosen randomly out of the70 samples and put on the filter paper at the same quantity respectively.Two weeks after the filter paper were stored at room temperature filter paper method was used to determine the concentration of serum transferring receptor.Results:The concentration of serum transferrin receptor by routine method and filter spotted method were 26.13nmol/L and 25.87 nmol/L(P>0.05) respectively,which were linearly correlated(r=0.93,P<0.01).Using>26.5nmol/L as the diagnosis standard for iron deficiency and compared with routine method,the sensitivity and specificity of filter spotted method were 81.5%and 100%respectively.The study results showed a consistency(Kappa=0.7277) in the determination of serum transferrin receptor by filter spotted method with that of routine method,even after the samples had been stored for 2 weeks at room temperature(18-25℃).Conclusion:Filter spotted methods is consistent with routine method in determining the concentration of serum transferrin receptor,but superior to the routine method in sample storage and transportation,therefore it is of vital importance in survey of body iron status and worth of popularization after further studies.
