多维交换网络中的一种流量控制机制与实现

【摘要】 多维交换网络是大容量、可扩展分组交换机/路由器设计中的关键技术之一。本文给出了基于这种网络拓扑、采用虫孔路由、结合虚通道技术时的一种有效的流量控制机制,它可在这种网络中同时有效地实现分组级和微片级的流量控制,提高网络交换性能。文中对节点缓存长度与网络性能进行了分析和仿真,描述了有限缓存资源下单节点和全网的流量控制过程,给出了网络中发生阻塞的条件。最后,在可实现性和性能平衡的基础上,给出了该流量控制机制的实现方法。
【Abstract】 Multi-dimensional switching network is one of the key techniques in designing scalable packet switches/routers with high capacity. Based on such network topology, an efficient flow-control scheme has been proposed in this paper, using the techniques of wormhole routing and virtual channel. This scheme could effectively achieve packet-level and flit-level flow-control in the network, improving switching performance. Relations between the buffer length of a node and the network performance have been analyzed and the simulation results have been given. The flow-control process in both single node and whole network with limited buffer resource is described in details, along with the conditions of network blocking. Finally, considering the balance between the network performance and the implementing complexity, a method to implement such flow-control scheme has been given.
