Influence of Oxidation and Reduction Treatment on the Photorefractive Properties of Mg:In:Fe:LiNbO3 Crystals

【Abstract】 The photorefractive properties of Mg(3mol%):In(2mol%):Fe(0.02wt%):LiNbO3 crystals with oxidation or reduction treated were studied. The absorption spectra of crystals were measured. The result showed that compared with the growth state crystal, the absorption edge of the reduced crystal shift to the violet and the oxidized crystal shift to the Einstein. The photo scattering resistance ability, response time and exponential gain coefficient were measured by two-beam coupling equipment. The concentrations of effective carriers were calculated. It can be seen that from oxidation state to growth state to reduction state of the samples, the photo scattering resistance ability and response time decrease but the exponential gain coefficient and the concentrations of effective carriers increase.
