高双折射光子晶体光纤偏振特性的分析与测量
Analysis and measurement of the polarization characteristics of the highly birefringent photonic crystal fibers
【摘要】 本文采用理论与实验相结合的方法,通过APSS软件模拟分析和计算具有高双折射率光子晶体光纤的传输和偏振特性,得到其双折射、偏振模色散、群速度色散(GVD)等随波长的变化曲线。同时,实验上采用波长扫描法,在1 160~ 1 660nm波长范围测量了这种光纤的偏振传输特性,得到其群双折射和偏振模色散随波长变化的曲线。通过非线性曲线拟合获得相关参数,进一步得到该光纤的模式双折射及拍波长。用这种方法实验获得的拍波长与理论模拟得到的结果基本一致。
【Abstract】 Both theoretical simulation and experimental methods are employed for the study and analysis of the polarization characteristics of a highly birefringent photonic crystal fiber (HB - PCF) . We use the Apollophotonics Software APSS to calculate the variation of the modal birefringence B, PMD, and dispersion (GVD) of the HB-PCF with the wavelength λ, and experimentally obtain the group birefringence of that HB-PCF by measuring the transmission spectrum of the Sagnac interferometer comprised of that HB-PCF loop and 50 : 50 fiber coupler. The relationship between B and A is determined by fitting the experimental data with the empirical formula 6 ∝ λb, and the parameter b is found to be 2. 643. The beat length of the HB-PCF at 1 550nm wavelength obtained from the measurement data is in good agreement with the result obtained from the APSS calculation within 10% in relative error.
