【Abstract】 We report a novel method for preparing sodium oleate-stabilized silver nanoparticle arrays by electrophoretic deposition from the lamellar lyotropic liquid crystal, composed of anionic surfactant sodium bis-(2-ethylhexyl) sulfosuccinate (AOT), isooctane, and water. The template and deposit are characterized respectively with small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Results indicate that template has an effect on the array structure and applied electric field results in coalescence of nanoparticles. Possible explanation on electrophoretic deposition of nanopaticles in liquid crystal is discussed.
