【Abstract】 STM tip-induced nanostructuring in ionic liquid is carried out for the first time: arrays of up to 10000 Zn nanoclusters of average ~4 nm in diameter are created on Au(111) surface, which demonstrates the feasibility for surface nanostructuring a new category of systems that have not been possible in aqueous solutions.
