【Abstract】 This thesis addresses the results of a research on the comparison of the accessibility between the internal and external websites. 200 internal and external websites which belong to 10 categories were evaluated by Booby. Based on the comparison, we summarized the existing circumstances of Chinese web accessibility, and also give some recommendations on how to improve Chinese web accessibility. The World Wide Web has rapidly become the dominant Internet tool, providing a network of educational, governmental, and commercial resources. For a website to be accessible, its content must be available to everyone, including people with disabilities. There are more than 60 million disabilities and more than 0.13 billion elders in china, so accessible websites are very significant and necessary. The aim of the research is to gain a clearer understanding of the current circumstance of Chinese web accessibility. We carried out the automated testing by Bobby, which is a tool for analyzing whether your page or site compliance with the W3C’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). The representative samples of 200 websites across different content domains were selected, including 100 internal websites and 100 external websites which belong to 10 categories. The homepage on every websites were tested. Based on the results of test, we had found that the most errors of websites are news and portal websites. These websites are abundance of information and contain of a great of multimedia information. This result shows that if those websites contain overfull designs and improperly apply the expression manner, it often causes accessibility problems. We also found that the Accessibility problems of Chinese websites are more serious than external the peer. This indicates that the great disparity between the Chinese and other advanced nations on web accessibility. The level of Chinese web accessibility is rather bad. The consequence of above result is that: (1) distempered Legislations,(2)jumbled designs,(3)the weak consciousness of designers on the accessibility. Some advices on how to improve Chinese web accessibility are listed out: Adopting some types of accessibility implementation plan or policy; Improve web developer’s recognition of websites accessibility; Test websites accessibility and validate design problems in time; improve the design style, customize more accessible web page templates; Establish favorable development system and improve the websites accessibility.更多还原
