【摘要】 《火车上的女孩》是现当代英国作家宝拉·霍金斯创作并于2015年正式出版的畅销小说。该作品具有很高的研究价值,学界普遍将研究重点聚焦于对该书中女主瑞秋的精神状况分析、对书中意象的象征主义分析以及对书中的女性主义话题进行探讨等,对瑞秋的创伤关注较少以及相关的创伤分析不够深入。而瑞秋所遭受的来自家庭、社会和个人的三重创伤给她的人生带来了不可磨灭的伤痛和不可逆转的恶劣影响。因此,用创伤理论分析该角色具有一定的研究意义和价值。本文结合朱迪斯·赫尔曼的创伤与复原理论,通过诊断瑞秋的创伤症状的具体表现,从个人、家庭和社会三个方面分析瑞秋的创伤成因,探寻瑞秋通过建立安全、回顾与哀悼和重建联系的途径实现创伤复原,进而挖掘出女主人公瑞秋的创伤全貌以及该人物对社会问题和两性矛盾的映射。本文首先对瑞秋的创伤症状进行分析,发现其症状表现为过度警觉、记忆侵扰和禁闭畏缩三大主要特征。其次,对瑞秋的创伤成因展开研究,发现失业和婚姻的失败给予瑞秋沉重打击,于是终日沉溺于酒精,进一步导致其与社会脱节,与家人关系疏离和淡漠,逐渐地,她沦为了社会的边缘人。以男性暴力和精神操控为显性特征的父权压迫,男权社会对女性价值的强制性定义和瑞秋对男性的情感依附,不断侵蚀她的自我价值,加剧创伤的恶化。最后,本文对瑞秋尝试创伤复原的途径进行了研究,她在新环境中找到了归属感和安全感,在积极寻求心理医生的帮助下,回顾过去悲痛的记忆并逐步摆脱其困扰,重塑自我,此外,她与母亲敞开心扉的沟通获得了母亲的谅解,实现了亲子关系的复原。通过以上途径,瑞秋逐渐驱散过去的创伤阴霾,走出困境,开启人生的新篇章。而作品中女主人公的创伤一定程度上反映了作者对女性身处弱势地位和所承受不公对待的控诉,折射了当代社会层出不穷的两性矛盾和婚姻家庭矛盾话题。通过创伤理论分析瑞秋,对丰富该小说的解读视角和加深对创伤理论的理解具有重要意义。该研究能引起读者对于两性矛盾和女性创伤话题的思考,揭露男性的不忠对于婚姻和家庭的破坏性影响以及对女性身心的双重迫害;瑞秋的创伤给予广大女性读者以警示:物质独立和精神独立同等重要,任何时候都不能放弃对自我的审视与提升;对瑞秋的创伤分析也呼吁社会各界关注女性创伤现象,对于构建和谐的两性关系具有一定的积极意义。此外,本文还丰富了创伤理论在当代文学的相关研究。更多还原

【Abstract】 The Girl on the Train is a bestselling novel written by the contemporary British author Paula Hawkins and officially published in 2015.The work has a high research value,and the academic community generally focuses on the analysis of the mental condition of Rachel,the symbolism of the imagery,and the discussion of feminist topics,with less attention paid to Rachel’s trauma and insufficient in-depth analysis of the related trauma.The triple trauma suffered by Rachel from her family,society and the individual has brought indelible wounds and irreversible negative effects to her life.Therefore,analyzing the character with trauma theory has certain research significance and value.This thesis combines Judith Herman’s theory of trauma and recovery by diagnosing the specific manifestations of Rachel’s trauma symptoms,analyzing the causes of Rachel’s trauma from three aspects of individual,family and society,exploring Rachel’s recovery from trauma through the establishment of safety,reviewing and mourning,and rebuilding connections,and then digging out the full picture of the heroine Rachel’s trauma as well as the character’s mapping on social issues and gender conflicts.The thesis first analyzes Rachel’s trauma symptoms and finds that her symptoms are manifested in three main features:hyperarousal,intrusion and constriction.Secondly,it studies the causes of Rachel’s trauma,and finds that unemployment and marital failure have dealt a heavy blow to Rachel,so she spends all her time indulging in alcohol,which further leads to her disconnection from society,and the indifference and alienation of her family,gradually relegating her to the margins of society.The patriarchal oppression characterized by male violence and gaslighting,the coercive definition of female worth in a male-dominated society,and Rachel’s emotional dependence on men collectively erode her self-worth,exacerbating the deterioration of her trauma.Finally,this thesis examines the ways in which Rachel attempts to recover from her trauma.She finds a sense of belonging and security in her new environment,and with the help of a psychologist,she recalls her past sad memories and gradually gets rid of her obsession and reinvents herself;moreover,she gains her mother’s understanding by communicating with her mother in an open manner,thus achieving the recovery of her parent-child relationship.Through the above channels,Rachel gradually dispels the haze of past trauma,gets out of the dilemma,and opens a new chapter in her life.The trauma of the heroine in the work reflects,to a certain extent,the author’s indictment of women’s disadvantaged position and the unfair treatment they have endured,and reflects the endless gender conflicts and marriage and family conflicts in contemporary society.Analyzing Rachel through trauma theory is of great significance in enriching the interpretative perspective of the novel and deepening the understanding of trauma theory.The study can drive readers to think about gender conflicts and female trauma,and expose the destructive effects of male infidelity on marriage and family,as well as the double persecution of women’s physical and mental health;Rachel’s trauma gives a warning to female readers:material and spiritual independence are equally important,and we should never give up our self-examination and enhancement;the analysis of Rachel’s trauma also calls for social attention to the phenomenon of female trauma,which plays a constructive role in promoting harmonious gender relations.In addition,this thesis also enriches the study of trauma theory in contemporary literature.更多还原
