【副题名】文学伦理学批评视角下的《押沙龙，押沙龙！》

【摘要】 作为二十世纪现代主义小说家和美国南方作家,福克纳在自己的作品中嵌入了丰富的伦理意义。《押沙龙,押沙龙!》作为一部基于南方历史基础上的史诗巨作,其伦理价值极其丰富。本文从伦理选择和伦理价值的角度出发,探讨南方罪恶这一永恒主题的根源及其对当今社会的现实意义。伦理选择是解读人物行为的过程中必不可少的术语。深入探寻人物所处的环境之后,批评者更能感同身受地呈现伦理价值,并且给读者提供伦理思考和反思。由此看来,《押沙龙,押沙龙!》和这个理论的结合是值得深入探究的。全文加上绪论和结论共分为五个章节。第二章阐述了《押沙龙,押沙龙!》中萨德本和罗莎作为老一辈的伦理选择,以及他们在古老南方背景下无法避免的家庭角色抉择,对黑人的看法以及对未来的不同坚持。第三章分别从查尔斯·邦,亨利和朱迪斯三位年轻一代看他们的伦理选择。第三章阐述了邦对伦理身份的迷惑,以及不合理的人性和兽性因子对他的控制,分析了在伦理两难下,亨利做出的弑兄维护南方家族尊严的选择,以及朱迪斯不受古老传统的束缚,如何选择建立新的伦理秩序。第四章分析《押沙龙,押沙龙!》里的伦理价值,揭示福克纳呼吁重建父子关系,种族关系和遵守伦理禁忌的主题。文学伦理学批评改变了传统的形式批评,从新的研究方法和视野丰富了《押沙龙,押沙龙!》研究,从而使读者领悟福克纳对人类命运的关切和思考,在坍塌的南方社会建构新的伦理价值,让读者对美国南方社会伦理道德进行反思,其所映射的伦理思考对当今社会具有教诲意义。更多还原

【Abstract】 As a modernist and American southern writer in the twentieth century,William Faulkner implants abundant ethical value in his works.Absalom,Absalom! is regarded as a historical epic grounded on the southern history,so its ethical values are profoundly overflowing.Concerning on ethical choice and ethical value,this thesis aims to explore the root of everlasting themes of southern evilness,and its practical significance for today.Ethical choice is an indispensable terminology to unscramble the actions made by characters.After going deep into where characters are,critics empathize by displaying the ethical value so as to provide readers with moral thinking and reflection.Hence,the combination of the novel and this theory is worth exploring further.The thesis consists of five chapters including Introduction and Conclusion.The second chapter illustrates the ethical choice made by the older generation,whose inescapable choice of family roles,the views on black people and insistence on life are particularly displayed.The third chapter is the ethical choice pertaining to the younger generation.It is concerned about Bon’s ethical confusion of ethical identity and his disproportionate human factor and animal factor,Henry’s fratricide to maintain the dignity of his family and Judith’s ethical choice to establish a new ethical order without being bound by the stubborn conventions.The fourth chapter mainly discusses the ethical value in Absalom,Absalom!which conveys the reestablishnment of father-child’s relations,race relations and observance of incest,an ethical taboo.Ethical Literary Criticism has changed the traditional formal criticism and enriched the analysis of A bsalom,A bsalom! from a new perspective and scope.It further makes readers comprehend Faulkner’s concern and thoughts about the destiny of human beings.He attempts to convey new ethical values in the southern collapsing society which will exert an important impact on the current society as well as bring readers’attention to the social ethics.更多还原
