流媒体业务性能测量探针的设计与实现

【摘要】 随着网络多媒体技术的蓬勃发展,流媒体视频日趋成为网络用户中最流行的在线业务之一,实时和顺序流媒体视频服务占用了越来越多的本地和网络资源。这类业务的大规模应用对评估计算资源和网络性能的测量计算方法有了新的要求,因此对流媒体视频业务性能的测量逐渐成为测量领域的一个重要话题。由于影响视频传输和播放质量的因素具有多样性,如何全面和有效的评估流媒体视频类业务的性能和质量的实际情况,目前业界国内外没有形成一个统一的标准;且传统流媒体测量技术文献多针对基于UDP的RTSP/RTP实时流媒体进行讨论,而Youtube等在线视频分享网站刚刚兴起不久,对于此类基于HTTP/TCP传输的顺序流媒体视频测量技术仍有很大的发展空间。本课题主要从流媒体的传输性能和业务内容质量相结合的角度出发,筛选出常用的测量指标,并通过对多层网络协议和Web页面进行解析,设计并实现能够有效采集和测算这些业务指标的测量探针。从而在云监测系统TANC提供的平台基础之上,提供进行大规模的测量采集的基础,以便更加直观的展现这些指标对流媒体业务性能的实际影响。本文首先介绍了课题的研究背景和意义,分析和比较了国内外最新的流媒体业务性能测量研究工作和技术标准,研究了视频的类型和‘相关协议,明确了本测量探针的功能需求后进行了流媒体业务性能探针的概要设计,然后详细设计和实现了同时针对实时和渐进式流媒体视频传输和播放质量进行性能测量的测量探针;通过部署测量探针到终端用户所在的网络节点,能够有效监测网络终端节点用户所观看的视频质量。此外,本文实验检验了测量探针的各项功能,还通过对该测量工具所获取到的统计数据,发现并总结了在线视频网站所提供流媒体视频传输质量的一些特点。
【Abstract】 With the vigorous development of network multimedia technology, the streaming media has become one of the most popular online services for network end users. Real time and online video services, which take up more and more local and cyber resources, come up with a new requirement of measuring method for computing resources and network performance evaluation in the large-scale application of this kind of business.Because of the diversity of influencing factors of video transmission and playback quality, the industry at home and abroad have not formed a unified standard for a comprehensive evaluation to the actual situation of performance and quality of streaming media service.While the traditional streaming media technology for the measurement of real-time streaming media RTSP/RTP based on UDP is long being discussed, YouTube and other online video sharing website is just arising, it still has vast development chance for media video measurement technology for such online HTTP/TCP streaming. Different from the real time streaming media, delay, packet loss and jitter and other factors can no longer directly reflect playback performance of online video. Bandwidth and cache and many other factors in recent years are more and more taken into analysis.This subject combines streaming media transmission performance and service quality of content to screen out the common measurement metrics. And through analysis on multilayer network protocols and Web pages, this paper design and implement the measurement probe which can calculate the indicators effectively. Using the cloud monitoring platform, it provides large-scale measurement and collection for measurement data, in order to show more intuitively the actual impact of these indicators of streaming media service performance.This paper firstly introduces the topic of the research background and significance of the research, then analyses and compares domestic and international latest streaming media measurement research and technical standards. And then it describes the type of video and related protocols and the functional requirements of the measuring probe for a summary of the design of streaming media service performance probe, then implement the measurement probe. Through the deployment of the measuring probe to the terminal, it’s able to effectively evaluate the video quality experienced by end users. In addition, this paper has tested the function of the measuring probe, and through the statistical data obtained by the measurement tools, summarizes some characteristics of online video websites which provide the video and their transmission quality.
