基于PCI总线接口芯片的验证与测试

【摘要】 在集成电路(IC)芯片设计中,验证和测试是芯片设计流程中最复杂、最耗时的环节。目前,集成电路功能验证和测试约占整个开发过程投入的60%~70%,是项目成功的关键。如何对复杂芯片进行验证和测试,已经成为缩短总体产品时间所需要面对的挑战。因此,在复杂芯片设计的各个阶段,都需要建立强大的仿真验证和测试平台,提高验证和测试的自动化程度,从而提高验证和测试的效率,加快芯片的开发周期。本文基于PCI总线,提出了对PCI总线接口芯片的验证方法和测试方法,搭建了验证和测试平台,提高了验证和测试的效率。本文提出的验证和测试方法,也可用于其他PCI的相关芯片。根据项目要求,首先基于仿真的验证原理,搭建RTL验证平台,利用工具ModelSim进行模拟仿真验证。其次,使用Xilinx公司的XC3S1500FT456芯片,搭建FPGA验证平台,FPGA验证可以使逻辑功能更全面验证,有助于潜在错误的发现。最后本设计采用华虹NEC0.35μm工艺完成了芯片的流片,为测试芯片功能,搭建了PCI总线接口芯片的测试平台。于此同时,在Windows操作系统下开发了配套的芯片驱动程序和测试软件,该驱动和测试软件可同时应用与FPGA验证和测试中。
【Abstract】 The most complicated and the most time-consuming step is verification and testing in IC design processing. Because the percentage of IC’s function verification and testing is 60% to 70% in the whole develop at present, it is obviously the key. So our job is trying to verify and test complex IC so that shorten develop period. The way is to set up powerful simulation platform in every design stage to increase automation level and the efficiency of verification and testing, ultimately, the IC development cycle is getting shortening.This paper is based on PCI bus,which presents the PCI bus interface chip verification methods and test methods, so that it builds verification and test platform, moreover, it improves the efficiency of the verification and testing. The verification and test methods which this paper is going to mention can also be used for other PCI-related chips. According to the project requirements, first of all, the principle of simulation-based verification is to build RTL verification platform, by using of ModelSim, simulation testing is processing. What’s more, the FPGA verification platform is build by use of Xilinx’s XC3S1500FT456 chip. FPGA logic function verification provides more comprehensive verification; it facilitates to check potential errors. Finally, in order to test chip functionality, a PCI bus interface chip test platform is built, and the design uses HHNEC0.35μm chip tape-out. Besides, chips supporting drivers and test software are developed in the Windows operating system, which apply to FPGA simultaneous verification and testing as well.
