基于LED的DLP投影显示光学引擎研究

【摘要】 投影显示由平面图像信息控制光源,利用光学系统和投影空间把图象放大的一种显示装置。它具有高亮度、高分辩率、数字化等特点,在教学、演示、娱乐等方面有广泛的市场和应用前景。在投影显示系统中,光学引擎是系统中主要组成部分,它直接影响到系统的最终性能,因而实现光学引擎的光学总体设计是这个系统的关键,投影显示的光学引擎设计包含照明系统和成像投影物镜两大部分。投影机照明系统在其发展中一直受光源问题的困扰,新型光源LED相比于传统的光源,具有了高亮度、无红外辐射、器件小、功耗低、寿命长等特点,满足了投影机对光源高光通量输出的要求。本文首先介绍了投影仪的行业概况与分类,比较了目前基于LED的四种主要微显示投影技术:CRT阴极射线管投影机、LCD液晶投影机、LCOS反射式液晶投影、DLP数字光学处理器;阐述了非成象的光学原理,包括光学扩展量(etendue)原理及照明系统的能量利用率问题;介绍了高亮度LED的发展,结构特性,并结合Luminus生产的高亮度LED进行了性能测试;针对光学引擎的特点,运用非成像光学理论方法、光学扩展量étendue作为光通量传递描述,分析了系统光学扩展量与光能利用率的关系,并在此理论基础上,结合LED的特性和两款DLP的DMD投影显示芯片:HD2和XHD5,运用Zemax的优化功能和Tracepro计算机软件的模拟与仿真照明,设计出高效率高均匀度的DLP投影系统,已满足了投影显示市场的商业要求。
【Abstract】 Projection display technology projects the image information on the micro-display onto the screen with optical systems to form magnified images .The advantages of projection display are large screen ,high brightness , high contrast and high resolution , which makes application of Projection display cover form the high-end military command ,large conference to business, education ,scientific research ,entertainment and other areas.The optical engine of projection display system main part of the whole system will have heavy effects on final performances .So it is the key to design the optical engine. The optical engine design includes lighting systems and imaging projection lensProjector lighting systems has been plagued by the problem of light in their development. Compared to the traditional sources, the LED has the irreplaceable advantages of high efficiency, no infrared irradiation, small size, low power consumption and long lifetime, which meet the projector light on the requirements of high-flux output.First of all , the background of the projection display , its category and enormous market potential are introduced, there are three typical kind of the projection system .those are CRT、TFT-LCD、LCOS、DLP Projection display ;then the paper introduced the principle of the non-image theory , the etendue principle , the principle of the energy efficiency of the illumination system. Introduced the high luminance LED development, the property of structure, and unified Luminus the production high luminance LED to carry on the performance test.Next in view of optics engine’s characteristic, the non-image formation optics theory method is utilized. etendue value was used to illustrate luminous flux and optical efficiency. Relation between optical efficiency and etendue value is analyzed. On the base of principle of the non-image theory, etendue, the characteristic of LED and two section of DMD of different projected display chip parameter:HD2 and XHD5,ZEMAX and Tracepro are used in the design of DLP lumination system. improvements on whole system were made by computer emulation and optimized design . It has satisfied the projected display market commercial request.
