【摘要】 威廉．福克纳不仅仅是一位著名的密西西比州作家，这位曾经获得诺贝尔奖的长篇小说家、短篇小说家被世界公认为二十世纪最伟大的作家之一。《喧哗与骚动》是威廉．福克纳的第四部小说，也被认为是他最好的一部作品。这篇论文深入探讨了小说《喧哗与骚动》中时间结构的合理性。首先，本文于运用了叙事学中叙事时间分析的理论分析了威廉．福克纳独特的写作风格。其次，本文研究了这部小说的时间结构的合理性与三兄弟人物性格之间的关系。康普生三兄弟对秩序与混乱各有不同的理解。班吉根据自己对家庭的记忆来安排顺序；昆丁依赖于南方所谓的理想化的传统规则理解秩序；杰生的秩序则完全取决于他个人的得失，他总是试图使事情按他所预想的方式发展。结果，康普生家族陷入了混乱之中。最后，文章分析了《喧哗与骚动》的时间结构的合理性和其主题之间的关系借此揭露了康普生家族经济、精神及物质上的衰败。文章的主题通过三兄弟记忆中的中心人物凯蒂的堕落得以展现。更多还原

【Abstract】 William Faulkner is more than simply a renowned Mississippi writer. The Nobel Prize-winning novelist and short story writer is acclaimed throughout the world as one of the twentieth century’s greatest writers. The Sound and the Fury is William Faulkner’s fourth novel, and considered to be his finest work.This thesis investigates the rationality of the time structure in the Sound and the Fury. Firstly, it examines Faulkner’s unique writing style using the theory of narrative time in narratology. Secondly, the three brothers are analyzed in terms of their relationship with the rationality of the time structure. Each of the Compson brothers understands order and chaos in a different way. Benjy constructs order around the pattern of familiar memories in his mind. Quentin relies on his idealized Southern code to provide order. Jason orders everything in his world based on personal gain, attempting to twist all circumstances to his own advantage. As a consequence, the Compson family is plunged into chaos. Finally, the relationship between the rationality of the time structure and the theme of the novel is analyzed to reveal the economic, spiritual and even physical decline of the Compson family. This theme is presented by the decay of the character, Caddy, who is the center of the three brothers’ memories.更多还原
