垂直腔面发射激光器的驱动与温度特性自动测试系统

【摘要】 垂直腔面发射激光器(VCSEL)与传统的边发射半导体激光器相比,具有发散角小、单纵模工作、非常低的阈值电流等优点,尤其适于二维面阵集成和与其他光电子器件集成。在光信息处理、光互连、光计算等方面具有广泛的应用前景。 本文简单介绍了VCSEL的基本原理与测试的特性。根据VCSEL的特性设计制作了不同场合下应用的VCSEL驱动源。我们的器件是直流器件,但为了更好的对器件保护,我们采用脉冲式电流源驱动,脉冲宽度、频率、峰值电流都可调节。 为测量VCSEL器件的温度特性,我们还设计制作了半导体激光器温度特性自动测试装置,把传统的多次恒温测量改为一次自动的变温测量,给研究器件温度特性带来很大方便。并通过测量所得数据简单分析了器件的温度特性机理。

【Abstract】 Vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) have distinct advantages over conventional edge emitting lasers, such as small divergence angle, single longitudinal mode operation and very low threshold current. They are especially suitable for making two-dimensional (2D) arrays as well as VCSELs based integrated devices. VCSELs are attractive light source for various applications including optical message processing, optical interconnection and optical calculation.VCSELs basic theory and the device characteristic are briefly introduced in this thesis. On the basis of the characteristic of VCSEL, kinds of drivers for VCSELs in different situations are designed. Our device is a direct current device, therefore, for the better care for the device, we used pulse current source driver, whose pulse width, frequency and maximum current are adjustable.For test VCSEL device temperature character, we designed an auto-testing apparatus for temperature characteristics of semiconductor lasers. Utilize one time automatic temperature changeable testing instead of multi times constant temperature testing, which take advantages for testing device temperature characteristics. Through simple analysis of the test data, come through the theory of the device’s temperature characteristics.
