图片重复扫描路径的眼动研究

【摘要】 目前,对于是否存在稳定的扫描路径还存在争论。视觉模式知觉理论(theory of visual pattern perception)认为,在图片重复呈现时存在稳定的扫描路径。扫描路径的随机理论对此持反对观点。该理论认为,当同一张图片重复出现时,不存在稳定的扫描路径。本研究就该问题展开进一步探讨。研究采用2×3的二因素组内设计。一个因素为图片学习类型,包括已学习图片和未学习图片两个水平;另一因素是图片呈现次数,分为第一次呈现、第二次呈现和第三次呈现三个水平。实验借用眼动研究技术和动态规划的方法,考察了图片重复呈现时的扫描路径相似性,并从眼动角度进一步验证了重复启动效应。结果表明,在浏览图片时存在两种加工:以策略为导向的自上而下的加工和以刺激驱动的自下而上的加工。无论图片学习与否,当图片第一次呈现时,均以策略为导向形成稳定的扫描路径;当图片重复呈现时,对加工程度高的图片以策略为导向,形成稳定的扫描路径,而对加工程度低的图片则以刺激驱动,形成的扫描路径并不稳定。另外,当图片重复呈现时,存在重复启动效应,除了反应时以外,还可以从总注视时间、注视频次、平均注视时间以及信息区内首次注视时间等眼动指标中得以体现。

【Abstract】 Researchers haven’t reached an agreement on the issue that the scanpaths are similar or not while the same picture is presented repeatedly. The theory of visual pattern perception holds that there is a stable scanpath as the repetition of the same picture, while the random theory doesn’t agree it. An experiment was conducted with two factors within-subjects design to examine the scanpath while a picture was presented repeatedly. The factors are: picture types with levels of the learned and the unlearned, and the times of picture presented including the levels of the first, the second, and the third. Taking the advantage of eye movement technique and dynamic programming method, we analyzed the similarity of scanpaths and meanwhile proved the repetition priming effect from the eye movement data. The result showed that two types of processing were used while viewing a picture, the strategy-driven top-down processing and the stimulus-driven button-up processing. The strategy-driven processing takes place while pictures are presented first time. The scanpaths are similar no matter what type the pictures are. While the pictures are presented repeatedly, for the learned pictures, the strategy-driven processing still occurs to form stable scanpaths, however; for the unlearned pictures, viewers use stimulus-driven processing which therefore formed unstable scanpaths. Moreover, the repetition priming effects were found not only from the reaction time but also from the gaze duration, fixation frequency, average fixation duration and first saccade latency etc.
