【Abstract】 As mobile and intelligent technologies become increasingly integrated into everyday life, a media landscape that long dominated by visuality is undergoing a profound "auditory turn". As a central medium within this shift, audiobooks have experienced steady growth in both their user base and industrial scale, thereby attracting increasing scholarly attention. This paper conducts a systematic review and synthesis of 22 key empirical studies in the field of audiobook research. The findings indicate that, research topics have become more in-depth yet remaining fragmented; theoretical perspectives have diversified but are often insufficiently grounded in specific research contexts; and research methodologies have expanded in variety but lack innovation. In light of these observations, this paper proposes that future audiobook research should pursue breakthroughs along three dimensions: thematic integration, theoretical contextualization, and methodological innovation.
