【Abstract】 This paper highlights the nutritional and health value of apples. In light of current challenges in China’s apple industry such as a monotonous and homogenized variety structure and the dominance of sweet-flavored cultivars, which has constrained farmers’ sustainable income growth. This paper proposes a breeding strategy aimed at developing high-nutrition and strong-flavored apple varieties. It further explores the formation and regulatory mechanisms of these traits and reviews recent advances in breeding research. This work seeks to provide varietal support for optimizing the apple industry’s variety structure and enhancing the nutritional quality of apple products,contributing to the Healthy China initiative.更多还原
