【Abstract】 As an innovative model that breaks down disciplinary barriers and enables targeted talent cultivation, micro-degree programs serve as a key lever for local universities to serve regional development and achieve distinctive institutional development. This article focuses on the construction of micro-degree programs in local universities. After analyzing their development status—driven by policy and guided by demand—along with characteristics such as type distribution and training models, it delves into the systemic challenges these programs face. These challenges include the adaptability of policy implementation, the depth of industry-academia collaboration, the transformation of faculty structure, the assurance of curriculum quality, student participation, and societal recognition. These dilemmas stem from a misalignment between traditional education models and emerging talent cultivation needs, and are closely related to resource endowments and regional industrial ecosystems. In response to the above issues, this article proposes countermeasures: establishing a demand-oriented policy response and resource optimization mechanism, innovating deep industry-academia integration models, building a compatible faculty development system, improving the curriculum and quality assurance system, and enhancing student engagement and social recognition.
