【Abstract】 In the research area of journalistic innovation, both the individual and the structural perspectives are emphasized. However, limited interpretation has been given to the interactive process perspective, which combine the two, and has the most theoretical potential. This article attempts to introduce institutionalism to develop a theoretical framework that considers the two perspectives of “individual and organization,structure and agency”. Journalistic innovation is regarded as an accomplishing process through which a set of solutions around new concepts or products were developed and implemented. It is also understood as a process that “institutionally embedded entrepreneurs” make choices strategically by following certain institutional logic. It is also through this process that innovation differences can be enacted. We applied this framework in an empirical test by analyzing how three Chinese news organizations developed different data journalism practices during their digital transformation and showed differences in innovation performance.This framework can be applied to interpret the news innovation process more generally.更多还原
