【摘要】 英国马戛尔尼使团访华是中英交流史上的重要事件,是英国人认识中国的一个转折点。使团成员在使华过程中搜集、记录了各种关于中国的资料,随后出版了相关的游记、报告和画册,将英国政府和东印度公司的利益放置在话语语境中心,使用互文、图像和数据等话语策略,构建了一个基本真实但又凸显英国立场的中国形象。在科技进步、工业发达的英国形象观照之下,中国仍然是一个以农业经济为主的社会,是等级制度森严、司法僵化严苛、科技停滞落后、民风淳朴愚昧的"落后东方文明"典型形象。著述中的中国形象描绘出自诩为优势民族看待想象中的落后民族的优越感,为后续的中英关系埋下了不可逆转的伏笔。更多还原

【Abstract】 The British Macartney Embassy to China is an important event in the history of Sino-British exchanges and a turning point for the British to understand China.During their mission to China, the envoys of the delegation collected and recorded various materials about China, then published relevant travels, reports and picture books.They placed the interests of the British government and the East India Company at the center of the discourse context, and used discourse strategies such as intertextuality, images and data to build a basically real image of China that highlights the British position.Contrasted with the British image of scientific and technological progress and industrial development, China is still a society dominated by agricultural economy, characteristic of strict hierarchical system, rigid judicial system, backward science and technology, and crude folk customs.It is a typical image of "backward oriental civilization".The construction of China’s image in the works reflects the superiority of the dominant nations to the backward nations, and sows an irreversible foreshadowing for the subsequent Sino-British relations.更多还原
