The biochemical and molecular mechanisms underlying the effects of the hypomagnetic field in animals
【Abstract】 Hypomagnetic field(HMF), with a magnetic intensity ≤5 μT, which is much lower than that of the geomagnetic field(GMF) intensity(average 50 μT), is a major environmental factor in outer space. Establishment of the hypomagnetic facility is a necessary condition to investigate the biological function of the GMF. The biosensation and response to the HMF is one of the fundamental issues in the field of biomagnetics and space life science. In this paper, we reviewed the progresses in recent studies of biochemical and molecular mechanisms underlying the effects of the HMF on oxidative stress, energetic metabolism and neural endocrine in animals; as well as multiple pathways involving in the bio-HMF effects.
