【Abstract】 The Zhige General of the Southern Dynasties has never been officially named,rather it is the temporary assignment for officers. The Zhige General itself has no fixed official rank,and the official ranks are determined by the people’s own officials who serve as Zhige Generals. As the bodyguard of the emperor or the ruler,Zhige General was the favorite person for the emperor or the ruler. Some of their duties are equivalent to Wei Generals,Leader and Hujun Generals,or even above these generals,and this is a destruction to the Military official garrison system. The emergence of the Zhige General was directly due to the coup of Prince Liu Shao at the end of Yuanjia period and the death of the Emperor Wen. The underlying reasons are the decline of the rich and powerful families,praetorian from a family of power and influence,and the institutional factor that military officers do not lead their soldiers.
