【Abstract】 The meaning of"canpi zhi li"in Records of Huayang State is controversial. Some scholars believe it refers to a Buddhist ceremony paying homage to Vairocana Buddha or a Buddhist funeral ceremony,while other scholars believe"canpi"means"assistance",and"li"is a wrongly written Character for ti. The word"canpi"is not recorded by any sutra or large-scale Buddhism dictionary,but very commonly used in ancient Chinese books. Meanwhile,there are many examples that the two characters "li"and "ti"are often confusedly used in ancient Chinese historical documents,too. Among those different explanations about"canpi zhi li",Mr. Liu Lin’s explanation should be correct.更多还原
