【Abstract】 Involuntary commitment of people with mental illness is an important legal system in the USA. A person with mental illness who poses a threat of harm and cannot survive without the other’s help may be given involuntary commitment. The system concerns the patient’s right of liberty and reputation,therefore there are substantive standards and due processes in statutes and case laws. The concerning treatment facility should take the suitable steps according to the different situations of the patient after the duration of treatment,which may be borrowed to improve the relative system of China.更多还原
