【Abstract】 The metonymic polarity items are the byproducts of the conjugation of metonymic thought and scalar reasoning and are employed to convey mutual information as well as maximum self-information.The probability-based scalar model of polarity items is developed to account for the licensing of the metonymic polarity items in terms of the information theoretic notion of self-information.In addition,the monotonic functions based on probabilities and quantities are indispensable for the differentiation of the metonymic polarity items of the same quantity and for the derivations of scalar and metonymic implicatures.更多还原
