【Abstract】 As the coal reserves in old mines are becoming depleted, to close some of the roadways for reducing workings and simplifying systems is an inexorable trend. In this case, the abandoned roadways can be used to good advantage, such as construction of water retaining walls or surge bin, depending on local conditions for facilitating the rational arrangement of operations at peak and slack periods.
