【Abstract】 This paper traces the development and modification of Ouyang Yuqian’s endeavor to reform Chinese traditional opera both in theory and practice. It analyzes his reform models and some individual cases. It concludes that the tenet of his reform was to introduce ideas that keep in pace with the time. He succeeded in doing so by means of shifting stress on dramatic literature and adopting the modern director. The result was the birth of a new aesthetics of the traditional opera.更多还原
