【Abstract】 Urban heat island, as a main character of modern urban climate, is increasingly severe with the improvement of urbaniza- tion in all counties in recent years. The effect on ecological environment of urban heat island, main mechanism, and spatial and tem- poral distribution of urban heat island as well its mitigating strategies was reviewed in this paper.
