【Abstract】 Relevance Theory states that human communication conforms to the principle of relevance. Incongruity-Resolution Theory of humor claims that the humorous effect arises from the perception of two incompatible ideas and the resolution of the incongruity. Relevance Theory is a good complement to Incongruity-Resolution Theory in that it explains the underlying cognitive mechanism involved in humor comprehension.更多还原
