【Abstract】 Mixed office waste (MOW) is a major source of available recycled fibers in the future. Removal of contaminants from toner inks and stickies has been the major problem in the deinking of MOW for use as substitutes for bleached market pulp. Conventional wisdom is to use complicated process technologies to solve the problem, resulting in high capital and operation costs. Recent research efforts provided some insight into the behavior of toner inks and stickies under process conditions. This paper reviews our research efforts in these two areas at the Dept. of wood and Paper Science, North Carolina State University, during the past decade. The results and their implications on process design are discussed.更多还原
