【Abstract】 Representing and solving product configuration problem by using constraint satisfaction problem, abbreviated as CSP, is presented in this paper. A CSP based product configuration method and a new constraint propagation algorithm nFC for solving non\|binary CSP are developed. Then an analysis of characteristics of CSP based product configuration method is performed on the representation of product configuration knowledge, the reasoning of configuration knowledge as well as the evolvement and maintenance of configuration knowledge.
