【Abstract】 The authors first expound the essence of comprehensive hospital strength and the background a-gainst which it was put forward. Then they propose a framework for assessing comprehensive hospital strength early in the new century, viz. 7 assessment items for the first tier, 39 assessment items for the second tier, and 151 assessment items for the third tier.
