【Abstract】 Liaocong No. 2 was developed by crossing male sterile line 244A as female parent with inbred line Liao 95-4-4-8-6 as male parent. The 244A was selected through crossing natural male sterile plant with fertile plant of welsh onion donglingbai and backcrossing for several successive generations. It grew vigorously and uniformly, the plant was 115 cm high (maxmum 160 cm) ,the scallion stalk was 45-55 cm in height and 3. 0 -4. 5 cm in diameter,no-till.
