【Abstract】 In the first half of 2002, the national output of welded tube was increased, but its price index went down appreciably, mainly due to the large amount of small-gauge welded tubes produced in northern China being sold to the South at a relatively low price, thus launching a new price-cutting race. The production structure adjustment of small- and medium-gauge welded tubes should therefore focus on producing speciality tubes. The welded tubes for medium- and low-pressure boilers produced by Chengde Iron & steel Group Co. Ltd. utilizing the composite procedure of "induction welding + furnace annealing + diameter reduction by stretching" have reached the international standards for the same kind of welded tubes, while being superior to the domestic seamless tubes for the same purpose. The production and application practice of the past years show that the survival way for a welded tube producer in the market economy is to put emphasis on technical innovations, while leaving behind the "preliminary stage of production更多还原
