【Abstract】 A mechanical design CAD system is developed based on the VBA(Visual Basic for Application) technique of AUTOCAD 2000. The function of VBA technique in the development of CAD system is discussed. The mechanism for developing CAD standard database system and the method for standard data organization based on database and parametrization design techniques are put forward. The fundamental principles for the CAD system of common section steel are analyzed. Details of the system structure, the overall design, and the design of standard database and geometry graph library are presented.
