【Abstract】 Li Hongzhang, known as the inaugurator and Zhang Zhidong, known as one of the promising young persons, in modern railway industry in China, have made creative contributions to the rise and development of the industry. Their activities in the Westernization Movement witnessed the whole process of modern railway construction. Their creative ideas of resisting the foreign enemies while developing our national economy, and using foreign investment to build railways have played a great role in the cause of railway construction in China. However, the struggle of power and control of domain between them slowed down the speed in railway construction, and the "internal strife" in the Westernization party have also blocked the development of modern railway in China.更多还原
