【Abstract】 The first part of this paper is edvoted to the illustration of the inadequacy of language in terms of the inadequacy of language as symbols and the inadequacy of meaningful functioning of language.Then from the viewpoint of cognitive psychology,it is pointed out that the imperfect matches between linguistic representation and perception and between language and thought are cognitive manifestations of the inadequacy of language.The last part demondstrates that memory and search for relevance are cognitive basis of and means for language appreciation and comprehension.更多还原
