【摘要】 XML语言作为新一代的Web语言,显示了其强大的Web应用潜力,地理标记语言(GML)作为XML在地理信息领域的应用,提供了对地理信息的规范化、结构化的描述、数据转换、以及空间数据互操作的有力工具。文章论述了XML、GML的特点,以及在传统WebGIS的三层体系结构中的应用前景和技术概况。

【Abstract】 XML (eXtensible Markup Language)provide a powerful new way for new web application.GML (Geography Markup Language)is an XML encoding for the transport and storage of geographic information,including both the geom-etry and properties of geographic information.This paper introduces the features of GML and it’s application in tradi-tional WebGIS.
