【Abstract】 In the novel Silent Don, Sholokhov created the image of Panteily, a typical multi faced complicated tragic figure like a three dimensional work of sculpture. Kind, patriotic and diligent as he is, he gets muddleheaded by vanity with an evil, corrupted soul. He supports and joins in rebellion against Soviet Government and finally dies in foreign land. The process of his spiritual degeneration and the causes of his personal tragedy provide food for deep thought. Meanwhile, the writer has exhibited great influence upon Chinese literature because of his masterly skills in characterization.更多还原
