【Abstract】 The definition of text is one of the major concerns with linguists. However, no consensus has been reached on its definition so far due to the fact that analysts of various schools define it for their respective research benefit. Nevertheless, it is a widely accepted truth that a profound research of text would be an impossibility without an unambiguous definition for it. It is argued in this paper that a text must satisfy five conditions, namely, informativity, semantic compatibility, associability, cognitivity, and length felicity.更多还原
