【Abstract】 It is a bit difficult to predict a special policy to be adopted by a newly elected president. Zhu, however, is trying to make his own judgement. Zhu maintains that since the 1990s Sino_American relations have been a hot issue often presented for debates in presidential election, because, to the Americans, China, instead of a strategic partner, has already become a potential competitor for America’s strategic interests. Another important reason for the tension in Sino_American relations was the U.S. domestic politics typified by the Congress, which saw a sharp divergence over China issue. Also, there exists an Americanized interpretation of China’s domestic reform. However, zhu believes that, given the America’s domestic background and the traditional continuity of U.S. foreign policy, the main trend of U.S.-China relations after Bush’s taking power will remain stable and developing. Most likely, Bush administration will take lessons experienced by the Clinton government and adopt an even longer term strategy and work out a China policy reflecting more explicit American principles and more clear_cut demand toward China. However, the adjustment_to_be will only have limited significance for the development of U.S.-China relations.更多还原
