【Abstract】 Fire ecology is an importance branch of ecology. Fire interfere is the motive force of the maintenance and the development of some forest ecosystems in the world. This paper reviews the conception and study content of fire ecology, and fire effects were summary recounted to plants, soil, hydrology and ecosystems. The feasibility and essentiality of prescribed burning are also discussed, of which are applied to sustainable management of forest and grasslands on mountainous region in Xinjiang.
