【Abstract】 Under the backgrounds of the economic globalization, along with the forthcoming era of "New economy", cities become more and more important and at the same time they also are confronted with more and more new challenges and opportunities as well. So the cities must try to increase their competitiveness. Based on the analyzing of the backgrounds of the emergence of "Urban Competitiveness", this paper makes some description of the meaning and the relative determinant factors, including factors of urban competition assets and factors of urban competition environments.
