【Abstract】 In his first work, A Week on the Concord and Merrimack Rivers, Thoreau revealed his attitudes towards the differences of the oriental and occidental philosophies, the qualities of the oriental and occidental nationalities and the connection between mythologies in various cultures. Thoreau’s reflection on intercultural comparison, which conveys the idea of relativism and cultural biological balance, shows his modernity. It is in consistent with Habermas’ theory and enlightening to contemporary culture context of globalization and multiculturalism.更多还原
