【Abstract】 It has been found that o -phenylenediamine can sensitively inhibit the methyl red discoloration reaction with H2O2 catalyzed by Fe(Ⅲ) in chlorhydric acid medium. The kinetic parameters of the re- action were investigated and reaction mechanism was discussed. A new method for the determination of trace o -phenylenediamine was proposed with the detection limit of 2. 4 μg/L and linear range of 0.0- 40. 0 μg/L.
