【Abstract】 The work principle of SDQ 91 core orientation survey instrument and the way of determining strata occurrence are introduced. The solved technical matters of vibration strength, confinement etc are described. The drilling assembly package includes a diamond core bit, swivel type double tube, and the SDQ 91 core orientation survey instrument. The survey instrument includes the rubber sleeve, spring, pilot, automatic timer, and magnetic sphere survey. The spring is designed upon the simple harmonic vibration principle in order to absorb vibration. The survey instrument has only one coupling, so it has good confinement. The survey instrument may measure the drilling direction angles, the drilling inclination angles, and the knife direction angles . Since there is not any source of errors, these core orientation dates are accurate. Thus, the strata occurrence is obtainned by calculation. The SDQ 91 core orientation survey instrument is simple and easy to use and can measure with drilling. In general, in order to get the orientation core, it is necessary that the drilling tools in a hole bottom are raised out of the hole twice, but this causes the waste of time. With the survey instrument , one can finish the core orientation survey in return. Compared with traditional survey methods, advantages of the survey instrument are low cost and long lived service in the case of equal accuracy.
